Don't Panic
Gaming Schedule
To be decided.
Character Concepts:
It is your responsibility as a player to make a character who can and will get
along decently with the rest of the members of the party.
It looks like we could have a fairly large group. Scheduling is going to be
difficult and we might have to play without everyone. Try to come up with a couple
of reasons that your character might be too busy to hang out. Get two or three
things for the city and a few more for while in the countryside.
Skills:
Starting Skills
As per second edition, PC's start with rank 1 in an artisan skill, 2 ranks in
knowledge skills of their choosing, and a number of rank 1 skills equal to your
charisma step.
In addition, I'm adding rank 1 in one of these skills: cooking, fishing,
hunting, riding or swimming. This is a freebie to round out your character a bit.
Learning Skills
When learning skills, it takes a number of days equal to your new rank to train.
Tutors cost 25 per day and are needed throughout training. The legend point cost
is half that listed in the book on page 222. After training, the character must
use the skill regularly for a number of weeks equal to the new rank before further
training will help.
Karma
Karma can be used for any roll of a discipline talent. In my world, you can use
karma on any roll but it costs 2 points of karma for one die.
Combat:
Initiative:
Initiative is rolled once at the beginning of combat. The numbers are written
down and that order is followed for the rest of combat.
Waiting: On your turn, you can decide that you are waiting until something happens.
You can decide to wait until the next round begins and so have the highest initiative.
If multiple people wait, they roll initiative when they decide to act again.
If all participants wait, initiative
is completely re-rolled when someone decides they want to act.
Talents which affect initiative allow their user to re-roll when they are used.
Downtime:
I like and use the Earthdawn Down Time
and it's Supporting Documents
from Ellipsis Publishing.
Spell Creation
The Pamphlet of Astral Craft
is my favorite method of inventing new spells.
Character Creation
I like EDCG(Windows)
the Earthdawn Character Generator. Use it or don't.
Racial Limitations on Class
This is a social limitation. Folks only think that Obsidimen can't be archers.
Disobeying the racial class limitations may confuse NPC's that you meet, but that's
their problem.
